Danielle & Rob – Maymont Park – Richmond, VA

It was below 40, rainy, and windy on Danielle and Rob’s wedding day at Maymont Park in Richmond, VA.  However, that didn’t change their minds about having their wedding outdoors and I loved their willingness to have their wedding the way they wanted it!  Danielle was such a good sport that she laughed off the fact that the wind tangled up her veil while walking in with her dad!  After the ceremony, they had a reception at the Berkeley Hotel in downtown Richmond with their family and friends.  I was so glad to have a part in documenting their day, enjoy the photos!

Jim & Jonna – St Bernadette Catholic Church and Silverbrook Farm – Springfield and Purcellville, VA

Jim and Jonna were married at St Bernadette Catholic church in Springfield, VA where they are both youth ministers. It was a great ceremony service and their students were even in attendance so I could see how special these two were in the way that they interacted with their students. After their ceremony, we travelled to Purcellville for their beautiful reception at Silverbrook Farm in a barn! I had never photographed a reception in a barn before so I was so excited, and to my delight there was also contra dancing during the reception. Here’s a sneak peek of their awesome wedding day, enjoy!

Amal & Geoffrey – Great Falls Park & Cherry Blossum Banquet Hall – Great Falls, VA & Sterling, VA

Amal and Geoffrey were such a wonderful couple to work with and they were not going to let a little bit of rain ruin their wedding portraits at Great Falls Park. By the time they were done getting ready in Sterling, VA, the rain had started falling heavily. We had already gone through the whole process with the National Park Service to secure a permit ($$$) to photograph and film  there, so there was no way we were going to skip it! Once we got there, my assistant Andrew, Erin (from Dolce Studio Films), and myself were all dress holders at some point trying to prevent Amal’s dress from getting dirty. Despite being cold and rainy, we got some great portraits from one of the safer overlooks, and having 3 black golf umbrellas in my trunk finally paid off. I managed to only be half soaked for the reception (which was full of Eritrean community dances!), but I would definitely stand in the rain anytime!
